Eventually Deanna's former spouse ended up with custody of the children. Deanna was obtaining her Bachelor's degree in Human Services and learned that abusive men were gaining custody of their children all across the United States and it eventually happen to Deanna. After the children were gone, Deanna was ill and had a lot of time on her hands. She wanted to help other women in her situation, and she created the Court Journal and then learned how to make a website. To make a long story short, Deanna found other women across the US who were going through her situation, other women in her county, and other women with her judge. As of January 1, 2014 Deanna knows over 80 mothers without custody of their children who have her judge. Deanna ran with three of her friends in 2012 in political positions. In 2013 Deanna discovered custody being sold in her county by a local bank. The Guardian Ad Litem in her case is married to the VP of the bank. She can now track the selling of custody of children to fathers for over 25 years and has discovered her former spouse doing some illegal activities for a major business he works for.
The Court Journal turned out to be a great tool in helping Deanna. The journal was created to answer the 5w's that are used in law. This would gather the facts of situations that happen to Deanna and help her when she filed her own motion, agency complaint, or press release.
Example: Deanna had to call Child Protective Services (CPS) regarding her former spouse. When she made phone calls or received a call, she filled out the journal. This incident went to three different counties and six people were involved. Who can keep track of that many people etc.... The journal did and when the case was closed, Deanna wrote a report of how the case went to county to county. She then went to each of those counties and pulled the email addresses of elected officials. She then sent a report to each person by email and filed a complaint with government officials.
Example: Deanna was sent for supervised visitations. She was harassed, her parental boundaries ignored, and her safety ignored at a domestic violence center. Deanna refused to go back to the center and found out who all the financial backers were supporting the program. She then forwarded them all a nice letter about her experience. What is great is she can remember names so the complaint letter is in chronological order. She can give the name of each person she spoke with and even if the police was involved.
Results: The supervised visitation program was suspended for nine months. It is unclear if Deanna's letter had anything to do with the closing or not. If Deanna or anther woman in the program became hurt because of the problems with the safety issues Deanna was having, a law suit would be possible.
Deanna started representing herself in court and could not believe how easy it was. She created the Family Court Workbook to show others just how easy it is to do and made the workbook affordable for every woman to purchase.
